Description:

Mitchelswood Farm is set in 20 acres on the edge of Newick Village in Mid Sussex. The Proprietor, Seona Lightfoot, lives with her husband and four children on the Farm and together they look after all the horses and the other Farm animals kept for fun. Our Instructors are selected not just for their BHS qualifications or experience, but for their ability to interact with children and keep the lessons enjoyable.

Holiday Activities - throughout every school holiday pupils can spend all day at the yard. Children learn lots about stable management, from catching a pony from the field, tacking up, grooming, feeding and, of course, riding. Children ride morning and afternoon and end the day with a swim in our heated indoor pool.

Residential Pony Club Camp is an opportunity to experience what it is really like to look after a pony of your own. Each child is allocated one of our own horses to suit their size and standard and they are responsible for everything it needs, from morning to night!  Throughout the week pupils will learn about cross country riding, show jumping, flatwork and hacking out on the local lanes and bridleways. Instructed riding lessons are twice a day, plus yard routines and structured stable management classes working towards a wide variety of Pony Club Achievement Badges.

Children sleep in friendly little tents, inside a big tent, on the lawn adjacent to the main house.
Games and activities are organised after yard duties and supper. Indoor facilities include a table tennis table and a 42’ heated swimming pool.  All meals are included and often taken outside.

Courses:
Mon 10am, to Fri 4pm in school holidays: £250
Fri 4pm to Sun 6pm in termtime: £145
(Easter to September)
Pupils must be between 8 and 16 and Mitchelswood Farm Centre Members of the The Pony Club.
Most courses are girls only, but a few weeks are reserved for boys only. Nearby accommodation can be recommended for parents.
