Description:

A small woodland and chalk grassland reserve, which is now a refuge for many scarce plants and butterflies.

The bridle path through the reserve has chalk grassland on one side and woodland on the other. This remnant of traditionally grazed chalk downland, which once would have covered much of Hampshire, is now surrounded by arable farmland and planted woodland. It is full of flowers in spring and summer, which provide a valuable nectar
source for the multitude of butterflies found here. The woodland contains many scarce plants and birds, and some small scale thinning to increase light levels has been undertaken.
