Description:
The reserve covers 122 hectares of ancient semi-natural woodland
Highlights include carpets of bluebells and patches of heather, common spotted-orchid. When conditions are open, after the coppice is cut, much of the ground is colonised by common cow-wheat, which is the food plant of the caterpillar of the rare heath fritillary butterfly.
There is a large car park suitable for all visitors to the reserve. The reserve is criss-crossed with some 3 kilometres of paths which are mostly public footpaths. There are no way-marked trails at present although there are information boards at all major entrances to the reserve which show the main paths.
