Description:

Aldermoor Farm has not been productive as a farm for around 25 years. The land has not suffered too much from modern farming methods. We are taking steps to revert it to a fairly ‘green’ pasture, along with some woodlands we have planted.

One plantation has a mixture of species as an investment for the future – a place where wild-life can feel safe and undisturbed. It adjoins another wood around an old brickworks clay-pit, and we hope the famous Isle of Wight red squirrels can flourish there.

Another woodland is in our Healing Garden which is being developed to a triple spiral design to create an unusual experience in as many senses as possible.

We have a large car park that can be used for overnight caravan & motorhome stays.
The original farm buildings were in great need of repair & renovation work. We urgently needed to use some of them for our animal rehabilitation work. We are still building, decorating and landscaping!

Even so, we still try to incorporate permaculture ideas into our design where possible to reduce our ecological impact. We have joined the Isle of Wight Freecycle Group - a really eco-friendly use of the internet!

We have had great help from local volunteers and college students - for which we are very thankful! We are also a host venue for WWOOFers - an international organisation co-ordinating volunteers for organic farms.
