The Cuckoo Trail (suitable for wheelchairs); This picturesque route follows the former 'Cuckoo Line' railway track and stretches from Eridge to Polegate. It passes through Heathfield, Horam, Hellingly and Hailsham. The 11mile (16km) surfaced track through the Sussex countryside is a safe route for walkers, cyclists and horse-riders of all ages. Trails by Rail; off road cycle routes starting from stations.  Routes from Southease station and Glynde are close to Alfriston. For information please visit http://www.vic.org.uk/vis/welcome.htm

Seven Sisters Off Road Circular; Start at Newhaven Town train station. Distance 33 miles/53 kms. This is a strenuous route with over 800m of climbing.  Refreshments stops at Seaford, South Heighton, Alfriston, Jevington, Birling Gap, East Dean and Friston. Brighton to Camber; Running along the East Sussex coast, National Cycle Route 2 includes many delights such as dramatic chalk and sandstone cliffs.  A good rail service runs along the East Sussex coast making it possible to complete this route in smaller chunks or in full.  For more informationESC Routes or Tel: 01273 481000
