Finish the day with a indulgent meal at one of the many high quality pubs and restuarants in Alfriston village while enjoying a glass or two of fine wine, once the children drop into bed from a fun and educational day.

A relaxing suggested day out:

Begin the day with a relaxing stroll around the shops in the village to pick up some gifts, or purchase some local goodies.  Then head to Alfriston Clergy House, the 14th-Century Wealden house, located on Alfriston green, the first building purchased by the National Trust.  The clergy house and surrounding area truly boast what is best about British idyllic villages.

Later onto the Cuckmere Community bus that takes you to the English Wine Centre nearby to Alfriston. This is a retail outlet for English and world wines, with wine tastings offered through a informal tour.  After catch the Ramblerbus back to Alfriston to enjoy a meal in your accommodation establishment or choose from the range offered in the village.

An active suggested day out: Distance 8 miles, strenuous, steep hills and stiles, 4.5 hours.

Start at the famous Beachy Head cliffs, which mark the start of the South Downs Way, which offer stunning views of Eastbourne and the surrounding area.  Take a look in the Beachy Head Countryside Centre offering a free experience of interactive displays about the wildlife and history of the area, plus a giftshop.

Proceed along the coast to Seven Sisters Country Park and stop for lunch.  On arrival to Seven Sisters take a trip to the Visitor Centre for a range of information on the Park with exciting displays and exhibitions. There is also a shop with leaflets, maps and souvenirs on sale.  Break for a well-earned lunch at Exceat Farmhouse, locally produced food never tasted so good.

From Seven Sisters either walk back to Alfriston via The Long Man of Wilmington route or jump on the Cuckmere Valley Ramblerbus back. Sit back and relax in one of the local pubs for a drink and a delicious, well-deserved meal.
