St. Bartholomew’s Church
Restored in 1856, part of the 11th Century Norman tower remains.  There is also a shingled broach spire, typical of Sussex.  A graveslab to Jhone Colins is the earliest one in the country that can be dated.  Open daily 8am to dusk (6pm in summer)

Churches

St. Peter’s Church, Stonegate
Built in 1904 in red brick with a substantial weather-boarded clock tower with spire, the external appearance shows the influence of the Arts and Crafts Movement.  Open daily 9am to 3pm

St, Philip’s Church, Burwash Weald
Early English style church designed by Walter Slater, the architect who was also responsible for the 1856 restoration of St. Bartholomew’s Church in Burwash

The Assumption of Blessed Mary and St. Nicholas Church, Etchingham
Build by Sir William de Echynham in 1360, the church’s copper vane is the oldest one in the country still in position.

St. Mary’s Church, Ticehurst
Build in the 13th Century, Ticehurst Church has a Doom stained glass window depicting the Day of Judgement where six people roast in a cauldron.

St Thomas a Becket, Brightling
The church houses the largest barrel organ in Britain in working order – donated by John Fuller.  On his death he was interred beneath the 25-foot high pyramid in the churchyard.

St. Mary the Virgin, Battle
St. Mary’s was founded in 1115, extended in 1250 and refurbished during the Victorian era.  It houses the 16th Century tomb of Anthony Brown of Battle Abbey.

Our Lady Immaculate and St. Michael, Battle
Built in the 1880s by the Earl of Ashburnham, the church can be described as an “old Catholic mission”  The font is a bronze-age quern, and the stained glass windows include one by Thomas Pylcher who was born in Battle in 1557.

Pashley Manor
Quintessential English Garden with exceptional views of the surrounding countryside.  The gardens surround a private Grade I listed timber-framed house, dating from 1550 and enlarged in 1720.  Being 4.5 miles (7km) from Burwash makes it a relatively easy (although hilly) ride for cyclists.  However those without a car will otherwise need to call a taxi.
