The Test Valley provides fly-fishing for brown and rainbow trout and grayling. The clear chalk stream waters of the River Test and its tributaries (Bourne, Dever, Anton, Wallop and Dun) are known for their Brown trout fishing. The river also provides Grayling fishing and in its lower-reaches it was, and hopefully will again be, one of the best Atlantic salmon and sea trout rivers in England. The area also has the very best small-water rainbow trout lake fisheries in the country.
The main brown trout season runs from early May to the end of September.
Most stretches of river are private fisheries, but there is easy access to many superb lake fisheries, some on a pre-booked day basis, and some on a turn-up-on-the-day basis.
