The High Weald offers a huge variety of walks, from strolls along the edge of Bewl Water to shady woodland walks in Bedgebury Forest and Pinetum. The High Weald Landscape Trail and Sussex Border Path cross the area and there is an array of walks leaflets to help you discover short or long walks through the pretty villages and countryside.
Cranbrook Walk – 8 miles (12.8km)High Weald scenery, with panoramic views of valley and hill. Walk through the lovely old town and past Cranbrook’s windmill, then through woods, field and lanes. Undulating with no major climbs.

A Grave State of Affairs – 7 miles (11.2km)
A typical country walk with some hills, stiles and muddy paths (depending on weather) with one railway crossing. This walk starts with the memorial inscriptions forged by illiterate craftsmen on iron gravestones lining the floor of Wadhurst Church. The network of footpaths linking the many hamlets of the parish provides a further memorial to the former inhabitants.
