With its vast open skies, sense of remoteness and beautiful landscapes the Romney Marsh is an excellent place for walking.
1. The Romney Marsh Countryside Project has produced two walks packs that lead you around the maze of footpaths and lanes that cross the Marsh and along the Royal Military Canal and its surrounding areas. They will also tell you about the area’s unique history and wildlife.
‘The Magic of the Marsh’ is a pack of nine self-guided walks that will take you around all of the Marsh villages (if you do all nine!). The walks range in length from three to nine miles.
‘The Royal Military Canal’ is a pack of ten self-guided walks that take in sections of the canal’s 28-mile length. Ranging in length from two to nine miles, the walks will acquaint you with this fascinating monument.
