Days out in The Blean

Woodland Crafts and a Day Out for the family:
Druidstone Wildlife Park is ideal for a family day out. The park is set in landscape that is valuable for its abundance of wildlife and flora as well as its natural beauty. In Spring the woodlands are full of bluebells and in autumn there are woodland fungi and winter buds to discover. The trail through the Enchanted Woodland takes you past many mythical sculptures. For the children there are animals to meet in the farmyard and adventure play areas.
If it rains you can have a picnic in the undercover picnic area, or buy a snack and drink at the Park.
If you’d like to learn more about the woodland itself and woodland crafts, contact the Park about the woodland courses they offer.
The Park is situated halfway between Canterbury and Whitstable and is easy to reach by bus, with the mainline bus from Canterbury Bus Station taking about 15 to 20 minutes. For full details call Traveline Tel: 0870 608 2608

For views over Blean Woods:
Mount Ephraim Gardens are in the heart of an 800-acre estate incorporating the house, gardens, and progressive fruit farm and grazing. The splendid late Victorian mansion and gardens have magnificent views over the parkland and the Swale and Thames estuary and from the arboretum you can see across to the Blean Woods and Hernhill church.
The gardens have an attractive mixture of formal and informal. There are herbaceous borders, topiary, a Japanese garden, rock and water gardens and a rose terrace leading to a lake. In the spring daffodils and rhododendrons give the garden a blaze of colour.
On Sundays you can buy products that have been made by craftsmen at the Hernhill Craft Centre, which has been based in the stable block since 1977.
