Farnham offers great walking opportunities for the visitor at any time of the year. From taking in the history of Farnham on a town-based heritage trail to longer more strenuous walks in the surrounding countryside, there is something to suit any mood. Some of the walks on offer are listed here with links to local information websites:
- Farnham Heritage Trail – This circular short walk follows a series of Heritage Trail Plaques. The route is explained on a leaflet available from the Visitor Information Centre or click here for a leaflet download.
- Guided town walk - A chance to explore Farnham further with a local guide telling you stories of past and present. The walk starts at 3pm on 1st Sunday of the month from the Wagon Yard car park. Click here for more details.
- Alice Holt Woodland Park – This ancient forest has circular walks on a hard surface. Perfect for families, children and less able. Click here for more info.
- Walks on Frensham Common – There are four picturesque walks on ranging from an easy access loop suitable for wheelchairs, to the 2.5 hour ‘Two Ponds Way’. For more details and downloadable leaflets click here.
- Tilford Walk – Birds and Bridges. Takes you through countryside rich in birdlife to the medieval bridges in Tilford. Other themed walks in the area including Hops & Heather (Frensham area) and Mills & Hills (Churt area). See the Surrey Hills website for more info. and downloadable leaflets.
- The North Downs Way – This National Trail winds its way from Farnham to Dover through the stunning Surrey Hills and Kent Downs Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The full route is 153 miles. For more details and map information click here.
- Hogs Back to Puttenham – A detour off the North Downs Way where the chalk ridge of the North Downs is at its narrowest. Includes a circular walk around Puttenham. For more details you can download a leaflet by clicking here.
