The many bridleways and byeways in this part of Surrey provide some excellent horse riding opportunities. Although there are not many opportunities for hire, there are several livery stables and riding schools in the area. Kilnside Farm (see accommodation section under ‘self catering’) will also accommodate horses.

- Downs Link – This 37 mile road is open to horse riders and links the North Downs with the South Downs. It passes through woodlands, wetlands and agricultural land. A leaflet can be obtained here.
- Alice Holt Woodland Park – The bridleways in this beautiful park can be accessed with a permit. Click here for the Forestry Commission website and more details.
- Frensham Common – Around 1000 acres of attractive countryside, midway between Farnham and Hindhead. The common has many miles of footpaths and bridleways.
- Farnham Park – Bridleways access the parks open landscape that has large areas of grassland, old oak trees and winding streams.
Riding Schools and Livery
Riding schools will mostly take visitors for lessons rather than for a hack. Check in advance what riding is offered to visitors.
