Why Henfield?

Henfield is a delightful rural market town with a long history dating from 770 AD, situated on a fertile sandy ridge overlooking the River Adur and the South Downs escarpment.

Henfield’s completely rural setting and compactness has created an intimate and friendly atmosphere in the village and a strong community spirit. There is a vibrant centre with many points of interest, a wide selection of shops, restaurants, pubs and a variety of small businesses.

The many listed buildings and its old streets and twittens make Henfield an important conservation area. As well as the beautiful countryside bordering the village, there is plenty of open space within it – from the three Commons and playing fields on its edge, to the ancient Tanyard Field near the church – perfect for recreation and nature study.
