Near Pulborough there are wonderful long distance rides and top class equestrian events, with polo at Knepp Castle in West Grinstead and show jumping at Hickstead.

The South Downs is crossed with many miles of bridleways and for long distance riders the bridleway of the South Downs Way stretches east west for about 100 miles (160km).
