RENOWNED RARE BREEDS SHOW CELEBRATES RARE BREEDS

There will be an extra special celebration this summer at the ever-popular Rare and Traditional Breeds Show on Sunday 24 July at the Weald & Downland Open Air Museum, as the show reaches its 20th anniversary. The event, held on the Museum’s beautiful Sussex downland site at Singleton, near Chichester, is one of the South East’s most popular countryside shows and celebrates the diversity of farm livestock across the region.

Biggest Field to Plate Festival Ever!

Now in its sixth year, the Hampshire Food Festival, a celebration of local food and drink runs from 25th June to 10th July. It includes over 130 events and activities across the county ranging from farm walks and producer open days to children’s cookery workshops and special themed meals in Hampshire eateries. Organised by Hampshire Fare, the county food group, the festival is the largest of its kind in the country. Free colour programmes are now available from Hampshire Fare

FATHERS DAY FUN!

An exciting new addition to the Weald & Downland Open Air Museum’s annual programme of countryside events is planned for this Fathers Day, Sunday 19th June. England’s leading museum of historic buildings at Singleton, near Chichester, West Sussex, is planning a packed day of unusual and traditional rural activities for dad, and the rest of the family, to discover and enjoy.

Summer in the Blean

Early summer is a good time to visit the Blean. As well as the opportunity to visit a wide range of attractions – from historic Canterbury Cathedral to beautiful Mount Ephraim Gardens – the woods reveal their wildlife spectacularly at this time of year. This is best seen on one of the guided walks and recent events have included dawn chorus walks, starting at 4.30am, but with reviving sausages and coffee afterwards; evening Walks to see bats, moths, displaying woodcock and hear nightingales and nightjars
