PRIORY FARM ANNOUNCES NEW VISITOR ATTRACTION

Priory Farm at Nutfield near Redhill has opened a new family attraction as part of celebrations to mark the Farm’s 50th anniversary this year – a two and a half acre Discovery Walk and Children’s Nature Trail.

“We often get asked by customers if they can explore our land,” says Nic Shinner, whose parents John and Wendy bought Priory Farm in 1957. “Until now, it just hasn’t been possible. Our fiftieth anniversary is a natural time to press forwards with a new project, and the Walk ties in with the resurrection of our Pick Your Own fields, which we have opened again this year after a successful pilot scheme in 2006.”

Nic hopes visitors will enjoy watching the Walk grow over the coming years.

“It’s quite literally a growing attraction, so it will develop and mature with each season. We are offering a Nature Trail, which will be a great incentive for children to explore and at the same time learn about nature and their own local environment.”

Visitors can expect to find various forms of wildlife – dragonflies, butterflies and frogs in particular – and in mid-summer Nic is keeping his fingers crossed for an unforgettable spectacle when the fifty million poppies and fifty thousand sunflowers that the Farm has sown will be in full bloom.

“The idea is to follow a walkway through the flowers to some of our Pick Your Own Fields,” says Nic. “Customers will be able to do the walk, gather fabulously fresh crops and then end up at the Coffee Shop for a well-earned cup of tea or an ice-cream!”
