Another first for Hickstead as online entries launched

Hickstead will be the first major show organiser in the UK able to accept online entries, starting with all classes at both the British Jumping Derby Meeting, which opens on June 25, and the Longines Royal International Horse Show on July 22-26.

From May 1, competitors will be able to download schedules and make their entries through the Hickstead website, www.hickstead.co.uk .

Hickstead entered into a partnership with UK-based Showman Systems, who will also be providing judges, scoreboard and competitor data. Start lists and results for all arenas, showing or jumping, will be on the Internet.

Initially the facility will only be available to riders and owners in this country and not for overseas competitions.

"It will speed up our organisation substantially and cut down on paper work, said Hickstead director Edward Bunn, who has worked on the arrangements with Showman Systems. "It is another first for Hickstead."

Paul West, Managing Director, Showman Systems said, "We are delighted to be working with such a prestigious show organiser such as Hickstead on this project.

"We believe that online entries will benefit riders, as it will enable to them not only to make their entry but book other requirements such as stabling, membership etc. with minimal effort and the show organiser by eliminating the need to re-enter this information.

"The system uses a very high level of data encryption to ensure data security for both parties."
