Coopers Farm - CPRE award for innovative Hadlow Down farmers

AN INNOVATIVE family from Hadlow Down has been recognised for the environmentally-friendly way in which they have restored a neglected farm.

Michael and Melissa Lunn won the first Sussex County Countryside Award for bringing Coopers Farm back to life as a working farm, complete with a herd of cattle and fruit and vegetable cultivation.

Although disused for many years, the plot in Five Chimneys Lane has been High Weald farmland since medieval times and Margaret Moore, judge for competition organisers the CPRE, commended the Lunns for their "superbly researched and managed re-creation of a historic and traditional farm landscape, based on organic and sustainable principles".
