Discover what happens on Britain’s farms. The opportunity for you and your family to visit a farm near you.
Open Farm Sunday is an annual event, organised by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) that gives everyone the chance to meet the farmers who grow their food and care for the countryside.
According to a recent survey carried out by LEAF “Britain is a nation of townies, blissfully unaware about the wildlife and nature on their doorstep”
The public are also woefully ignorant about the responsibility of farmers, particularly concerning their role as managers and guardians of the countryside and where their food comes from.
On 12th June more than 450 farmers across the country will be opening their gates to welcome visitors to help them discover more about farms and farming, livestock and where food comes from/how it is produced.
All farms are unique and so different farms will offer different attractions. Those listed below give a flavour of what is on offer:
- Hosted farm tours
- Self guided walks
- Meet the animals
- Trailer rides
- Farm shop
- Static machinery display
To find a farm in your area visit the Open Farm Sunday website and enter your postcode.
