A Bell Rang Out for a New Life for an Old Church
St Margaret’s Mission Church, a brand new corrugated iron church, more commonly known as a ‘tin tabernacle’ was erected and used by the parishioners of South Wonston, Hampshire from 7th February 1909.
In 1996 the time came when it was no longer big enough to serve the community so a modern church was built and the original one has now been re-erected at the Weald & Downland Open Air Museum, Singleton, near Chichester.
On 7th February 2012, 103 year later, the very many acts of generosity and hard work which have led to its re-erection and re-furnishing were celebrated in the church at the Museum.
