Route Description This is one of a series of circular walks promoted by East Sussex County Council. Detailed directions, description and a map can be downloaded from the link below.
Terrain Details A generally easy walk through woodland with no stiles and some hilly sections. Can be very muddy.
Additional Info / Warnings Much of this walk uses permissive paths through the Forestry Commission land at Great Wood. Please be aware that due to commercial activities, it is possible that some sections of the route may be liable to temporary closure. The Forestry Commission operated, Great Wood, consists mainly of coniferous woodland, with areas of heathland, ponds, streams and sweet chestnut coppice. There is a wealth of wildlife, with Badgers and Deer, birds such as Nightjar, Tree Pipit and Crossbills, and many common woodland butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies.
Access Info / Public Transport Buses: A regular bus service operates Monday to Saturday between Maidstone and Hastings, with a stop in Battle Trains: Battle Station is on the London to Hastings line and has a regular service Parking: Public parking is available in Battle
